‘Feel Your Reading Book’, series of six tactile children’s books
Sim goes fishing
This is a story of a little girl named Sim who makes her own fishing rod by fastening a hook to a length of wool and knotting this to a stick. Initially she only manages to fish a scarf and a beetle out of the water.
She adds a little bell to a hook in an effort to lure a fish but to no avail. Finally she uses a piece of bread as bait and manages to catch the fish. After inspecting it on her hand she returns it to the water.

As with the book about Bas and his cart, there is a lot of repetion used in the story which advances in small steps. Certain elements are repeated consequently in the illustrations making these easy to recognise and interpret. The book comes with a handmade fishing rod and 3D fish. Using the rod, children are encouraged to act out parts of the story and so gain better understanding of certain concepts and language as a whole.
