On the cover, there is a tactile line drawing of a comb in exactly the same shape and size as the real comb which has been added to each book. By placing the real comb on top of the illustration the children learn about the relationship between 3D objects and 2D tactile drawings; this is an early introduction to important concepts. Once again, children are encouraged to interact with the story as a means to gain greater understanding of language and the world around them. With guidance they can use the comb to brush the illustrations (and anything else they come across). Its a funny story, very appealing to young children learning to read their first words in braille. On a more serious level it also teaches children about behaviour and emotions; what is or isn’t acceptable and why.
